Everyone is raving about artist James Turrell’s current Guggenheim exhibit that makes such beautiful use of Frank Lloyd Wright’s enormous rotunda by filling it with shifting artificial and natural light. But from WHERE did this inspiration come? Plenty of artists have taken their cues from comics and animation, maybe Mr. Turrell is really a Pop artist at heart, after all. And with a red beard, it’s not really a stretch to imagine him as Yosemite Sam, either.
