We’re a week into the new year now, so it’s a good time to check out the Best News Bloopers of 2015. NewsBeFunny has released a three sets of newscaster flubs, so far. Part 1 features lots of f-bombs, cows screwing, part 2, more bad language and catching a bank robber live and part 3 you get a pooping bear, more naughty words and even a twerking arrest. There’s a good half hour of LOL’s here. Watch.

#ARTBASELMIAMI: UBERBOAT WILL GET YOU ACROSS BISCAY BAY IN STYLE
For the first time in ten years, I’m not in Miami for the Art Basel festivities this week (I’m doing a project with W New York Union Square, this week… more on that later.) As if you care, but traffic during Miami Art Week can be hectic even without major road closures. (The Venetian Causeway is out of commission.) One used to have to get a driver or rent a car and take you chances but last year saw Uber making it MUCH easier getting to where you needed to go. They saw another opening and this year decided to do UberBOAT! It will allow riders to go from Miami Beach to the Art Districts by jetting across Biscayne Bay in both directions on luxury yachts, all with the tap of a button.
HOW IT WORKS:
Request UberBOAT in your app when you are in the UberBOAT Zone. If connected, a driver will take you and up to 5 of your friends to the corresponding UberBOAT Dock. You will board a luxury yacht and be taken to the opposing UberBOAT Dock. A driver will then take your party to your final destination within the UberBOAT Zone. UberBOAT, including rides to and from the docks, will be available for a fee of $35.
Sounds simple and fun, especially if you are sharing with friends. I’ll pay attention to my Instagram feed to see how glam it is or if it takes you even longer. Stella Artois is sponsoring so if they are giving out free samples, who cares?
THE DETAILS:
UberBOAT will be available to request in the UberBOAT Zone below 46th street on both sides of Biscayne Bay, pictured in the map above.
It will cost $35 and is available for groups up to 6 riders that are 21 years or older.
Your final destination needs to be in the opposing UberBOAT Zone to be included in your fare. If you will be traveling outside the zone, you will need to request another car at the end of the boat trip.
UberBOAT will be available to request starting Thursday 12/3 – Saturday 12/5 from 2 pm – 12 am.
LAST NIGHT 5,000 NEW YORKERS, ALL DRESSED IN WHITE, DINED UNDER THE STARS
Yes, 5,000 people, all dressed in white, got together for the world’s largest outdoor popup restaurant in NYC last night. The location was a secret until the last moment. Guests for Tuesday’s Diner en Blanc (that’s french for Dinner in White, y’all) showed up at one of 24 designated spots where the secret venue was disclosed. Then, dining and dancing and drinking and talking at Pier 26 on the Hudson River in Tribeca. It was BYO–everything, including food, booze, tables, chairs –even silverware and candles. Of course, there were no waitstaff, so they had to clean up after themselves too. Each participant pre-registered for the event, and paid $30. It all started in Paris in 1988 and has expanded to 60 cities on five continents, but organizers say the one in New York is the largest with more than 125,000 people signing up this year.
#APRILFOOLS: LET'S PLAY PAC MAN ON GOOGLE MAPS
Is that Blinky & Pinky running down Broadway? Google is making April Fools’ Day some throwback fun by combining Google Maps & Pac-Man. They are known for their April Fools’ Day pranks and this year the company came to the party early, rolling out the Pac-Man game yesterday. It’s SUPER-easy to play:
Just pull up Google Maps on your desktop browser, click on the Pac-Man icon on the lower left, and your map suddenly becomes a Pac-Man course.
Twitterers have been playing Pac-Man in Manhattan, in central London and down crooked Lombard Street in San Francisco… go ahead. The boss isn’t looking.
HERE'S YOUR FREE OSCAR COLOR-BY-NUMBER BALLOT!
Are you having an Academy Award party? It doesn’t take much; a TV, (cocktails), some colored pens and pencils… You can turn The Wow Report‘s FREE Color-By-Number Oscar Ballot (created by me, Trey Speegle) into a party for 2 or 20. Click on the image to enlarge for a hi-res version to print out. (It’s designed for oversized 11 x 17″ paper, but it’ll reduce to an 8.5 x 11″ standard sheet. Go here for a hi-res image you can drag to your desktop.) It doesn’t include every single nominated category, but do you really want to try to guess “Best Sound Effects Editing?” If so, the full list of nominees is here. You know the odds-on faves for the major categories, right? Barring a MAJOR upset, here’s a little cheat-sheet with my predictions for the top row:
Best Actor, Michael Keaton. Best Actress, Julianne Moore. Best Supporting Actor, J.K. Simmons. Best Supporting Actress, Patricia Arquette. Best Director, between Wes Anderson and Richard Linklater, but I’d give it to Linklater (Anderson will likely get Best Original Screenplay). Best Picture, Boyhood , but I wish it would Birman, as it's my personal fave.
If you take pics of your coloring party and completed ballots, tag them #coloroscar @wowreport, and you may see them here and on The Wow Report next week. Just to make it more fun, you could make it a drinking game too! Take a sip every time you hear Boyhood, Birdman or Budapest. Cheers!
