The long-time home of (Republican & gun advocate) Charlton Heston just hit the market. The house in Coldwater Canyon was designed for Heston in 1959 by architect William S. Beckett. It has been “the private residence of the Heston family” since its completion although Charleton died in 2008.
The house in these photos is a neat little time capsule of L.A. and Hollywood modernism. It has 5 bedrooms and six and a half bathrooms, a private office, a Bond-style library, and (my favorite) a three-story artist’s studio with an elevator, screening room, and its own bed and bathroom. It sits on three acres with a private, gated driveway with parking for 10 cars and features a swimming pool and tennis court. Asking price is just over $12 million.
