My house in the Catskill Mountains in upstate New York is a converted barn, consequently, I’m a bit barn crazy. Waaaayyy down south, in Western Uruguay, local architect Nicolás Pinto da Mota just finished this minimalist pool house using the traditional forms associated with their vernacular architecture. Named ‘La Lunera’, the gabled red structure is set against an adjacent forest – using old materials and contemporary construction techniques. It opens onto an expansive terrace which has a sunken swimming pool with sweeping views. I’d love to add this exact structure to my property as a painting studio. I’m adding this to my Pinterestboards.
