Trump just backed out of attending the Kennedy Center Honors just after members of the President’s Committee on the Arts and the Humanities send a letter denouncing his comments on Charlottesville.
The White House just announced this morning that Trump and Melania will not attend the annual Kennedy Center Honors in December. Norman Lear, Lionel Richie and others have said they would skip the party, if not the awards altogether. A statement from the White House read,
“The President and First Lady have decided not to participate in this year’s activities to allow the honorees to celebrate without any political distraction.“
This after a letter from the 16 prominent artists, authors, performers and architects resign with an extra bit of style. It gets right to the point.
“Your values are not American values. We must be better than this. We are better than this. If this is not clear to you, then we call on you to resign your office, too.“
