Kanye West’s Christmas present to Kim Kardashian was one-of-a-kind Hermes Birkin bag painted by artist George Condo. Kim posted tit, uh, IT on Instagram with “#HandPainted GeorgeCondo #HermesBirkin #OneofOne #Christmas PresentFromYeezy” Condo has exhibited around the world, including a retrospective last year at The New Museum and he collaborated with West on a series of covers for his album “My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy.” The bag’s price tag is said to be $40,000, which is a LOT for a purse, no doubt. But honestly, an Hermes birkin can sell for $25,000, sans art. Considering what Condo’s work sells for (I inquired about the a simple drawing on paper at an art fair last year and was told it was $40,000″) I think this was a pretty good “investment”, whether you like the artwork or not.
